The Keeper Report Goes to Basketball

Third sport in, same idea: treat your dynasty roster like a portfolio, not a hobby.

Basketball's my lightest rep count of the four sports here — I play dynasty and keeper leagues, but I'm not going to pretend I've got the multi-year baseball or football track record in hoops specifically. What I am bringing is the same framework that's worked in those sports: real trade value, real risk assessment on rookies and breakout candidates, and the discipline to hold or move an asset based on where it's actually trending, not what happened last Tuesday.

What this covers: dynasty and keeper value — rookie stock, trade value shifts, breakout and bust risk, and how offseason moves (trades, free agency, coaching changes) shift a player's long-term outlook. The 2026-27 season doesn't tip off until October 20, so between now and then, expect this to lean on free agency, draft-prospect analysis, and trade value shifts — the exact kind of long-horizon thinking dynasty basketball rewards anyway.

Same rules as the rest of The Keeper Report: every call comes with the reasoning, not just a verdict, and reader questions — including basketball-specific or multi-sport dynasty questions — become their own recurring feature. Send yours in whenever you've got one.
